We know CNN is visually chaotic, focusing on a single story is often impossible. I recently came across two websites with impressive accessibility layers and was inspired to bring that same experience to a major news platform. I wanted to prove we could bring 'calm' to the busiest site on the web.

Discount Timer for Triumph

We want to add a timer on discounts to create a sense of urgency. By using a discount timer, the expected benefits will be to increased conversion rates, as customers are nudged to act faster. It can also reduce cart abandonment and boost average order values, since customers may be more motivated to add items while the offer is still valid.

I often get frustrated of endless best seller lists and find Waterstones isn't great at helping me browse or discover new books; you pretty much have to know what you're looking for. I was inspired to add a "recommendations" carousel. I wanted to make it more personalized and give some agency to the recommendations, hence the book finder wizard!

Booking.com Destination Carousel

Casual browsers who, at one point, were looking for a specific travel destination might be interested in an alternative destination in the same area, but need to scroll for a while below the fold to access similar destinations. I brought the alternative destinations further up the page and made the element more lightweight so it's easier for users to navigate.

Triumph Site Personalization

This idea is for the upcoming Black Friday campaign. I want to offer personalized discounts to customers and keep all communication direct. That’s why I’m asking for each customer's name, to make the experience more personal. The customer will feel the discounts are made specifically for them, we could use data and show this once a customer has visited more than 1 page or clicked 3 products.
